FAQs
These are FAQS for students considering an online Continuing Education class in the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts at George Brown College.
The classes are delivered with a variety of material that you work through on your own – handouts, slides, discussion boards etc. and pre-recorded video demos. There are live sessions with the teacher at the posted time where they will review material and help answer questions, but they will not be doing a live recipe demonstration. You should anticipate that this will be a shorter session, but spending the total number of hours posted on the course in total. The assessment will include online quizzes as well as assignments where you cook at home and submit photos and a reflection on your work. You will provide your own ingredients, but the course fee has been reduced to reflect this. There is no expectation to have any items for the first class as the teacher will explain everything then.

You will be purchasing ingredients and supplies for your class on your own. The teacher will help support you to find substitutes based on availability and any dietary restrictions. There is no expectation to have anything before the first class.
In most courses online sessions are recorded so you can watch them later if you are going to miss a class. We recommend checking in with your instructor on the first class if you plan on missing classes to be sure they can record the weeks when you will not be able to attend.
You can search for all of our course outlines by course name in the Course Title section here: https://www.georgebrown.ca/course-outline-search/. You should search by course name rather than course number.
